About Helen Astrid

Helen was awarded a Scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music and gained her Diploma in 1988, presented by Diana Princess of Wales. She then enjoyed a career as a soloist, singing at most of the major UK venues including English National Opera, Royal Opera House & Garsington Opera. She now works as a singing teacher, vocalist and songwriter and runs the fast-growing Sing Anything! Clubs for those that like to singing in groups. This will soon be available directly online.

Her experience in voice production ranges from performances in the classical repertoire and in music theatre e.g. 'The Phantom of the Opera', the best musical in town. She is greatly sought after as a vocal coach and has expert knowledge in vocal repertoire covering all styles which is combined with a striaghtforward teaching technique and endless enthusiasm. All her students have all developed to their fullest vocal potential. Helen is described as having a voice like a cocktail of steel and silk. She continues to amaze audiences with her daring heartfelt sincerity.

TV and Radio

Helen regularly broadcasts on radio and TV. Her credits include C4's What the Butler Saw and a guest appearance on The Paul O'Grady Show and BBC 1 News, singing her song for the 2012 Olympics. Recently she was a guest on BBC1's Sunday Live programme. In 2005 she founded The Helen Astrid Singing Academy.

She was on LBC's The Caroline Feraday Show in September talking about her songwriting and was subsequently interviewed for various radio shows including Richard Haiker's Show on LBC and the Breakfast Show BBC Radio London. On a recent visit to the US, she was interviewed by Brooklyn Radio, New York plus the BBC.
